He is the best-selling British solo artist in the world, one of most successful singers of the 21st century, and an idol of the modern British pop-music. His name is Robbie Williams, and he is coming to St. Petersburg this Autumn!
Williams started his career in the 1990s as a member of Take That, however soon he left it to work on his solo project. During his career Robbie Williams has received a record eighteen Brit Awards, and two awards for Outstanding Contribution to Music and the 2016 Brits Icon Award for his “lasting impact on British culture”. In 2004, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame after being voted the “Greatest Artist of the 1990s”.
On November 7, 2016 Williams announced a concert tour titled The Heavy Entertainment Show Tour to promote his 11th studio album. It will begin in June 2017 in England, and pass through 18 countries and 29 cities, including Moscow and St. Petersburg.
Explaining the name of the tour, Williams said : ‘I was musing over the phrase “light entertainment” – all the huge TV shows from when I was a kid, 30 million people watching them, this huge shared experience of these moments called light entertainment.’
The first single from his latest album “Party like a Russian” has become quite popular in Russia. Despite its text and video sounding a bit freaky and even scandalous, most of people believe that Mr. Williams just has an ironic sense of humor.
