Duration: 8 hours
Activity level: Comfort
The medieval sea town of Vyborg with its ancient 13th-century castle is a lovely change from the baroque palaces of St. Petersburg city center. This unique region near the Russian-Finnish border, where Swedish, Finnish and Russian descendants all lived together tells of a time before St. Petersburg was built.
Walk down the Vuoksa River with the floating fountain to the Castle and observe the area from the Tower of St. Olaf. Then take a cobblestone path that will lead you to the Round Tower, Rathaus Tower and city`s Market Square where you most likely find a festival or a holiday and enjoy local sweets with glogg-drink. The oldest Dwelling House of Russia is another must-see of this trip, a wonderful trip through time.
Walk at the Mon Repos park is recommended weather and time permitting.
