We once again have the pleasure of welcoming the Glenn Miller Orchestra to Saint-Petersburg!
This year, in celebration of its 80th Anniversary, this world-famous Jazz orchestra will play on November 10th in the Oktyabrsky Concert hall under the direction of acclaimed conductor Will Salden. Before beginning to tour around Europe with his orchestra, Will Salden spent a long 15 years, working tremendously hard to recreate the masterpiece that is Glen Miller’s unique musical creations.
Glenn Miller and his orchestra began their brilliant career in the late 1930s, shortly before the outbreak of World War II. Despite the fact that Miller himself disappeared without a trace during the war, the orchestra kept his name. For several decades, the orchestra has been highly praised throughout the world including in the Soviet Union (now the Russian Federation), due to the high professionalism of the musicians and innovative techniques used both in the arrangement and in the performance of all their works. To this day, the Glen Miller Orchestra is still considered one of the greatest Jazz Orchestras of our time.
During this long-awaited concert in Saint-Petersburg, the hits of Glenn Miller, Louis Armstrong, Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald will be played by some of the world’s most talented musicians and vocalists, offering us a unique and wonderful musical journey through the best of what Jazz has to offer.
