In 2018, the holiday “Scarlet Sails” in St. Petersburg will be held on June 23rd.
The Scarlet Sails celebration is certainly an un-missable event in Saint-Petersburg. The event has been taking place for already 50 years and is unique to Russia’s northern capital. This year, on the 23rd of June, once again, a beautiful sailboat adorned with bright scarlet sails will float down the Neva River to the great delight of not only Saint-Petersburg inhabitants but also the thousands of visitors that come from far and near, especially for this event.
As per tradition, breathtaking light and firework shows, concerts, circuses and performances by some of Russia and the world’s best artists will accompany the main event.
This stunning show is based on the popular 1922 children’s book Scarlet Sails by Alexander Grin and marks the end of the school year as well as the graduation of last year students. This night is a celebration of freedom and the end of school rules as well as the beginning of life, friendship and unity.
