Alexandria Park

This park, adjacent to the Peterhof Gardens, was presented to Empress Alexandra, wife of Nicholas I and named after her. Since 1829 the royal family relaxed there during Russian summers, away from the hustle and bustle of court. The stunning landscaped park is home to numerous English style small palaces such as Cottage, a romantic villa surrounded by a pergola and blooming rose bushes. A wonderful view opens towards the sea from its terrace.  Farm palace was named as such due to its original function – a barn, a vegetable garden, summer kitchen and shepherd`s house, which was later attached by a Summer House of the heir, future Tsar Alexander II. The Blue study of the Farm Palace contains personal belongings of the Tsar-Liberator.

Alexandria residence can impress even the most sophisticated visitor – one can see the first in Russia Telegraph station, children`s Sport complex and Fire station, Labyrinth and the House of the Royal courier service. There is even a Gothic chapel, adding yet again to the diversity of Saint-Petersburg architecture!

This park is one of the few places where you can combine sightseeing with a relaxed bike ride through the romantic landscape and along seashore.
