Count of Rymnik, Prince of Italy, Count of the Holy Roman Empire, Prince and “cousin” of the King of Sardinia and Piedmont, Generalissimo – it is all about the Russian soldier. Field – Marshal Suvorov is considered one of the most talented military commanders in the world history who never lost a single battle. He was awarded numerous times both in Russia and by other countries that put up monuments and placed numerous memorial signs dedicated to the Field Marshal.
Alexander Suvorov`s sayings have entered the Russian language and became proverbs – “Train hard – fight easy”, “Perish yourself but rescue your comrade”, “The bullet is a mad thing, only the bayonet knows what it is about.”
The museum was founded by the order of Nicholas II and opened in St. Petersburg in 1904 in honor of 175-th Anniversary of Alexander Suvorov; it is housed in the specially designed building that resembles an ancient Russian Fortress with a watchtower. The museum possesses a collection that contains unique documents presented by Nicholas II, personal belongings of A. Suvorov and his military awards as well as the artefacts telling about the Swiss military campaign.
If you are interested in military history, if you wish to learn more about outstanding people of Russia and see the unique collections of weapons, if you want to visit a small chamber exposition, we will be happy to organize an excursion to the Suvorov`s Museum in St. Petersburg, where everyone will find something interesting. By the way, the first in Russia Toy Soldier Museum also makes part of the collection.
